Let me introduce you to the writing of Grey Coyote – a click away if you choose the link on the top bar! Coyote, owner of Paradise Bound, has business, music, acting and artistic talents, but perhaps his greatest skills lie in the areas of poetry and prose. It is with pride that I call myself his editor and he’s shared some fabulous “prosetry” and short stories with me over the last year. This writing will lead you on a jaunty stroll down a lyrical back lane, where Coyote imparts his impassioned and unique take on city life. Happy reading friends.

Hey there… Coyote here… Over the last few months, I’ve been adding to Wikipedia. Whenever I notice that someone noteworthy is in need of a page I do my best to create one. It’s quite a learning process and an art that I hope to refine over time. If you want to see what I’ve done, check out a few of my better entries, which are: , Wynton Kelly’s “Kelly Blue”, Felix Ayo and Adolf Endler. My main interests are obscure jazz and blues artists and CANADIAN MUSICIANS! Feel free to add anything I’ve forgotten if it’s a fact supported by a citation, because if the legitimacy of the addition is questionable, it will be tagged for speedy deletion. Enjoy!

Toronto in summer is a hive of activity and creativity. Without a doubt one of the coolest aspects of Kensington Market, is the number of artists floating around – people who make art, paintings, music, write books, or just live every day with a sense of purpose, passion and plain old personal pizazz.

Aside from the world-famous festivals recently going on or coming up (NXNE, Pride, Caribana, Toronto International Film Festival) the market represents the best of local creativity and expression – and Paradise Bound supports that. Speaking of cool events – your next opportunity to attend a Pedestrian Sunday here is July 27th (followed by two events in August, on the 17th and 31st).

This photo features photographer Jason McConnie (also a musician with the Fitzroy Terrors), shop owner /writer Grey Coyote, and web designer Mike Simpson (aka Mikooshka in his musical guise).

Come into the shop sometime and grab a flyer for an art show or gig, listen to some local indie releases and bask in the creative hive that has supported artists like Run with the Kittens, The Golden Dogs, Elliot Brood and Sandro Perri (Polmo Polpo), to mention a few of our faves. There’s a turntable for your listening pleasure, books for browsing, and always a deep, creative vibe going on.

-Mike

Thanks for the photos Jason!
