Hashimoto Ryōka – 橋本菱華 (act. Meiji/Taishō/Showa period) – 民家山水 – Traditional House Sansui

SOLD. THANK-YOU!

A prominent student of Takeuchi Seihō, Hashimoto-san was a Kyoto native who graduated from the Kyoto Prefectural School of Painting. A Nihonga artist who studied Shijō-ha, a couple of his accomplishments include winning third prize in exhibition in 1901, and being commissioned to paint sliding doors at Daitoku-ji. A partial list of accomplishments and one of his best paintings can be seen here. His unrecorded date of death may be the result of the upheaval caused by World War II. Very dynamic brush work. Auspicious for happiness in the home. There is a lot of other ancient symbolism that makes this scroll auspicious that we would be happy to share with you. -Nice silk mounting that changes the reflection of different types of light and gives the piece a different look depending on such light. Light stains and ageing that do not affect the ability to appreciate its beauty.

SOLD. THANK-YOU!
