After the war, he lived in a small home in Nagasaki. His first solo exhibition was at the Ginza Shiseido at the age of 50, followed by a solo exhibition of prints at the Hankyu department store in 1961 (prestigious department stores in Japan have a long history of endorsing and supporting the arts). He also had solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Paris etc. -He created many works on  the customs of Edo and a major work includes “The Four Seasons of the Imperial Palace”.
