Matsuoka Toshiyuki – 松岡敏行 (b. 1921) – Limited Edition Mimeograph – 謄写版 – Ariake Bay – 有明の港

$300.00 CAD

From Shimonoseki , Yamaguchi, Matsuoka-san graduated from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1944. In 1949, he found success making hanga covers for children’s poetry books. He exhibited with and was a member of Nihon Nanga Kyokai. Besides exhibiting in the U.S. and Italy, he was a teacher in Kita Kyushu. He is held in the Museum of Modern Art Wakayama (see image 10). Something certainly captured Matsuoka-san’s imagination while visiting this bay, -a combination of industrial shipyard, waterfront trail and midway. The last three pictures help convey that feeling. The richness of color of this piece is quite impressive. Very good condition (some small creases towards the very edge of the unprinted margin that will be obscured when framed). 21.5″ x 15″ (paper size), 16.5 x 10.5 (image size). Numbered #62/100 – 1990. Very rare.

$300 – Comes with a document of authenticity.  Price includes shipping worldwide! All prices in Canadian dollars.
