Born in Nagano, Akabe-san was a disciple of Terasaki Kogyo (1866-1919). He participated as an Imperial Exhibition Artist in Tokyo. A 1924 fine arts magazine exhibition entry of his can be seen here. Good condition for its age (late 50’s / early 60’s). Normal aging, tiny bit of foxing and a couple of light creases. The ancient auspicious symbolic meanings of this piece are more than 6-fold (the main being humility and happiness in the home [traditional homes]), and all of them will be shared upon purchase.
