Andō Hiroshige – 安藤 広重 (1797-1858) – Evening Moon at Ryogoku – 両國之宵月- from “Toto Meisho” 東都名所 (Famous Spots in the Eastern City)

Hiroshige painted this image in the falling dusk, when he was still young and was trying to become as good a landscape painter as Hokusai. This was a harbinger of the masterpieces that were soon to come. Published by Takamizawa (Est. 1911). Company stamp on verso (see picture 2). Fine registration, impressions, bleed and saturation.
