SOLD. THANK-YOU!
Hiroshige was one of the most prolific artists in Japanese history. This piece shows the relative calm and prosperity of Ōtsu, which was a burgeoning post town with 2 large inns for government officials and 71 for travelers. As night would descend, things would get quite lively as the day’s work was finally put aside and many of the guests would turn to drinking and entertainment. 69 Stations Of The Kiso Kaidō was originally published by Iseya Rihei (Kinjudō) circa 1834-1842.
