SOLD. THANK-YOU!

From the series “Views of the Sixty-odd Provinces“, Yōrō Falls is one of Japan’s “Top 100 Waterfalls”. It is praised for its high quality water, which is used for making popular drinks. This high quality Showa period print added the wonderful extra impressions into the waterfall, so that the falls come to life in three dimensions. Enlarge the photo and have a look. It’s even lovelier in person. To my knowledge, only this printing creates this effect. The original was made in 1853. Publisher: Oedo Mokuhansha. Made in the exact traditional manner as the original (except for the added impressions on the falls, which required the carving of a separate block!). Will look exquisite in the right frame. This print is difficult to find. Date: Shōwa period*Please click the top left corner of the photos to enlarge them.
