$250.00 CAD

Kadowaki-san was born in Kanonji city in 1913. Self-taught, he was also a navy soldier with a fondness for travelling and he visited museums all over Europe. After the war, he lived in a small home in Nagasaki. His first solo exhibition was at the Ginza Shiseido at the age of 50, followed by a solo exhibition of prints at the Hankyu department store in 1961 (prestigious department stores in Japan have a long history of endorsing and supporting the arts). He also had solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Paris etc. -He created many works on  the customs of Edo and a major work includes “The Four Seasons of the Imperial Palace”. Very good condition. Thick washi was used for this series and they will hold up perfectly for centuries if kept in the right conditions with the proper archival materials. A recent retrospective of his work can be seen here. *Please click the top left corner of each picture to expand them.
