Hokusai cleverly, again, uses an angle from an artist’s point of view to depict the castle as of secondary importance, throwing more emphasis on the humility of the men at work and the moon. The original was made circa 1835. Signed: Saki no Hokusai Iitsu hitsu 前北斎為一筆. This edition published by the Adachi Company (company stamp on back of print). High quality, rich colour and expert shading. Excellent condition. Large, “dai-oban” size. Will not be shipped in a viewing folder. Date:Shōwa period.
