Kitagami-san was born into an artistic extended family in Hokkaido, northern Japan, far from the artistic centers of the country. Determined to excel, he made his way to Kyoto, where his talents allowed him to study under the great Takeuchi Seihō. This led to many entries into prestigious exhibitions, including the Teiten. Here, the sun symbolizes Japan and the Imperial Household, as well as Amaterasu. The haze, like mist or fog, is a Zen reminder of the intangible things in life that we can’t grasp or comprehend. Active water is a reflection of one’s inner energy and vitality.
Fair-good condition for its age (small stains overall and slight foxing – but so striking and dynamic that they are overcome!). Please click the arrow on the upper left corner of the pictures to expand them.
