Mimura-san was an official painter of the Matsushiro clan in Shinano Province who was active in the late Edo period. He inherited the painting style of the Kano school. His works are held in the Sanada Treasure Museum, the Sannomaru Shozokan Museum (Museum of the Imperial Collections), Tokyo National Museum and The Brooklyn Museum, etc. -His works are difficult to acquire. Good, normal condition (small stains, damages, toning, aging etc. – still very enjoyable – extremely vibrant, strong mineral and seashell pigments). Li Bai (701–762), a renowned Tang dynasty poet, famously captured his awe of the waterfall at Mount Lu in his poem “Gazing at a Waterfall on Mount Lu”. The poem describes the waterfall as a 3,000-foot torrent that resembles the Milky Way falling from the highest heaven, painting a picture of sublime natural beauty. The composition dates back to at least the 1400’s, but most scholars believe that lost paintings were done much earlier.
