Okada-san was born in Tochigi Prefecture as Kiichiro. He studied under Eiko Satake and became an established nanga painter. He was awarded prizes at the Nihon Bijutsu Kyokai (Japan Art Association), Nihon Gagaku Kai (Japan Painting Association), and the Nihon Nanshu Gagaku Kai (Japan Nanshu Painting Association) exhibitions. He was also selected for the Bunten exhibition. Concurrently, he was a member of the Nihon Bijutsu Kyokai and the Nihon Nanshu Gaokai. The last two photos show the title page (see bottom right) and the printed photographic image of his entry to exhibition in the fine arts magazine Bijutsu Gaho, Oct. 1913. Good, normal condition for pre-WWII (small blemishes and stains). Fine silk mounting. Rich mineral pigments. Bold and striking.
