The prestigious Asami potter family of Kyoto dates back to the Edo period. Gorosuke VI’s father’s and grandfather’s pieces are held in private collections and museums internationally and the VI exhibited regularly throughout his career. His daughter has inherited the traditions and also exhibits regularly. He retired in 1996. Straight from the tradition of the “Six Old Kilns of Japan”, this Shigaraki-yaki flower vase is a very convenient size for the ikebana for a tea ceremony in any setting. Rustic, earthy, primal, and full of personality and spirit. Stamped by the artist.
