Paradise Bound On YouTube.

Takeuchi Seihō was one of the greatest painters of the Nihonga genre of the 20th century. Sparrows are auspicious for loyalty and repayment of debt. This is a hand-painted original on silk, mounted on a thick washi paper “shikishi” board that can be framed or mounted as a hanging scroll (framing is far less expensive). Good condition (light foxing – still very enjoyable!). Provenance: I acquired this in Kyoto in November of 2025 and originals by Seihō are usually somewhat expensive. He is held in the MOMAT, Yale University, Honolulu Museum, Museum of the Imperial Collections, etc. etc… The Seattle Art Museum has quite a few.
