Tanomura Shōkō – 田能村小斎 (1879-1910) – Sansui – 山水
SOLD. THANK-YOU!
Tanomura-san came from one of the most respected lineages of artist-monks of Kyoto, which started with Tanomura Chikuden and continued with the equally famous adopted son (his grandfather) Tanomura Chokunyu. Not much is know about his life beyond being a student of his father (Tanomura Shosai) and being very good at sansui (landscape) paintings – the one you see here being an excellent example. It is dated 1905 and has fine old lacquered jikusaki roller ends. One of our smaller sized scrolls, it will fit easily onto any wall space.
Good, normal condition (folding lines, small damages). – 12″ x 45″ –SOLD. THANK-YOU!
