Tokuriki Tomikichirō – 徳力富吉郎 – (1902-1999) – Udo Jingu – 鵜戸神宮 – Limited Edition #87/120
$300.00 CAD
Udo Jingu is one of the more unique Shinto shrines in Japan. It is on a cliff by the coast of Miyazaki and is the mythical birthplace of Emperor Jimmu‘s father Ugayafukiaezu. Here Tokuriki-san has captured a very unique perspective that has seemed to defy most photographers. Do a google image search to see!
Tomikichiro created prints from start to finish in his own workshop (Sōsaku-hanga), but also earned a living with Shin-hanga (collaborative efforts overseen by publishers). Born in Kyoto, he was a graduate of the School of Fine Arts and Crafts. He is fairly well known in the west. Hand-numbered 87 0f 120. The last picture shows a part of the same area of the temple. Very good condition for its age.
