Yamamoto Sekisō – 山本石叟 (1872-1944) – Mt. Fuji & Pine – 富士山と松山水
$375.00 CAD
Born in Chita-gun, Yamamoto-san was the first-born son and one of the best students of Yamamoto Baisō. Like his father, he was highly skilled at Nanga “sansui” (landscapes) of the 4 seasons. Here, he chose to paint on satin (not a common choice) instead of silk to give the piece more of a feeling of snow and clouds. He was, like his father, also a skilled pottery painter. If you examine the painting that his father painted by clicking his name above, you will see that their calligraphy hands are so similar as to be almost exact. We would be happy to share the ancient auspicious symbolism of this fine kakejiku. Good normal condition (light foxing, normal folding lines). Elegant wood jikusaki (roller ends).
