Yoshida Shigeru – 吉田苞 (1883~1953) – Daikon, Carrots & Arrowheads – 大根, ニンジン, と クワイ
SOLD. -THANK-YOU!
Born in Okayama prefecture, Yoshida-san graduated from the Tokyo University of Art. While there he studied under Kuroda Seiki, from whom he drew great oil painting techniques, as well as Kojiro Torajima who was also a master of oils. It was no surprise then, when Yoshida-san turned his own talents primarily to oil painting. Yoshida-san’s stamp for his later pieces is quite unique as one can see from the last picture. It does not fit any of the standards of classic stamp design, and instead gives a very modern feeling (along with the more liberal use of colour) to an ancient style of painting.
